The City of Weston received an Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant and initiated a program that would result in the most effective results in energy conservation. CGA developed a request for proposals for energy reduction devices for outdoor lighting systems. Proposals were received and evaluated. The results of the responses indicated that LED luminaires would provide the best solution for the City and CGA prepared bidding documents to replace the existing metal halide street lights with LED units throughout the City. When the contracted work was completed, over 1,200 units were installed – resulting in an estimated savings to the City of $160,000 in energy costs and $100,000 in maintenance expenses on an annual basis (as compared to the previous metal-halide lights).
