CGA was contacted by Sunny Isles Beach in regards to the failure of an existing City-owned seawall. The wall located at the newly constructed Intracoastal Parks had suffered from deteriorated tie backs and had exceeded its usable life. The August rains increased the upland forces, causing the wall to rotate into waters adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway. CGA led by David Frodsham, Chris Giordano, Sandra Lee, Bob McSweeney and Hanzel Rubi quickly responded to the emergency request for design, permitting and inspection of the demolition and replacement of the seawall system.
CGA worked with Ladkas/Yohalem Engineering, Inc to quickly prepare the plans for submittal to DERM, USACE and the City Building Department for review and approval. David then worked closely with Sandra Lee and DERM representatives to expedite the permit review process while the Contractor was onsite performing emergency repairs. The Contractor, PAC COMM, Inc, completed the 669’ seawall replacement on schedule and within budget.
