The Planning and Zoning Commission gave its blessing Tuesday to proposed amendments to the town’s comprehensive plan.
The board’s unanimous decision is a recommendation to the Town Council to approve the land-use document, which the state requires to be updated every seven to 10 years. The council must approve the updated plan in its capacity as the Local Planning Agency, and as the council, before it is sent to the Florida Department of Community Affairs for review.
Town staff worked with consultant Calvin, Giordano & Associates on the update. Additions include a paragraph acknowledging the goal to bury all utilities in town, and statements affirming the town’s desire to have a healthy business community and to intensify landmarks preservation efforts.
