CGA was retained by the Town of Davie to design and permit the Phase I improvements to College Avenue, within the Town of Davie Regional Activity Center (RAC). This phase involves the upgrade of roadway from SW 30th Street to Nova Drive from a two-lane rural section to a four-lane major collector with sidewalks on both sides of the roadway, street lighting, and planted medians in an educational campus environment. The project improvements created a safer driving environment by providing safer turning opportunities as well as a safer environment for pedestrians by providing street lighting. In addition, the existing roadway had an inadequate drainage system. A major component of this project was the re-design and permitting of the new drainage system within a major underground utility corridor with underground communication, signal interconnects, electric lines both free and in a 30” x 30” duct bank, and water and sewer mains.
The project involved extensive coordination, interaction, and communication with the local community including Broward College, Nova Southeastern University, Florida Atlantic University, the University of Florida, local residents, and the student population. This project was undertaken in conjunction with a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation.
CGA permitted the project through the SFWMD, the CBWCD, and Broward County.
