In March 2018, two new CGA-designed artificial turf fields opened at Bamford Park in Davie. CGA was awarded the contract with the Town of Davie in September 2016 to provide design, survey, and construction services to convert two existing natural grass fields (Bronco and Mustang) to artificial turf at the park. The fields were designed of slit-film turf with a three-layered heat-reducing composite infill material comprised of sand, crumb rubber and a top layer of composite material with heat-reducing properties in order to provide a more enjoyable experience for the players during hot months.
In addition to the field conversion, the design included re-grading of the fields, new drainage system, retaining wall, and sidewalk improvements. Both fields will serve multiple sports; full-length soccer for 11 vs. 11 (U13 onwards), two small soccer fields for 9 vs. 9 (up to U12), and Men’s lacrosse.
The construction cost was $2.4 million and a grand opening was held on Thursday, April 19th. CGA’s design team included Curt Keyser, PE, Bob McSweeney, PE, Bruce Bernard, and Nicholas Mahon, PE.
